Tēnā koe,
I am thrilled at the prospect of working alongside early childhood teams as a Professional Learning Facilitator with ELP.
Relationships and the well-being of children are at the heart of my teaching practice. I have a strength in building and maintaining relationships that are authentic, respectful and reciprocal. I have a genuine love for children and people and for encouraging, supporting and connecting with others.
I have a thorough knowledge of Te Whāriki as a document as well as what it looks like in practice. I especially appreciate Learning Stories for their unique ability to capture and share precious learning moments in authentic, joyful and engaging ways.
As a child myself I was in and out of hospital. These experiences had a profound impact on shaping me and lead to a passion for inclusive practice that I weave throughout my teaching. I am excited to take this passion a step further this year as I pursue my Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching focussing on Early Intervention.
My time as a teacher has spanned nearly 20 years, with valuable time in the middle of that at home with my own three children. In addition to my teaching experience I bring with me my perspective of what it means as a parent to know your child is seen, cared for and given all they need to thrive.
I would bring all my current skills and experience to my work alongside you as well as a growth mindset and openness to diverse ways of knowing, being and doing.
Ngā mihi nui,
Emma Matairangi
